A full-time faculty position in Theatre is available August 2025. We seek a broadly trained faculty member with strengths in theatrical design, construction, lighting, and sound. All SC employees are expected to demonstrate a strong and articulate Christian faith, to model and mentor students in servant leadership, and in the integration of faith into every aspect of life and learning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach a variety of courses, in addition to technical and design supervision of all theatre productions during the academic year, along with management of the scene shop and student workers. Depending on experience and expertise, possible courses in a two-year rotation include Theatrical Design, Stagecraft I & II, Theatre History I and II, Oral Interpretation, Theatrical Lighting, Technical Drawing, and supervision of student workers in the scene shop.
- Work with Sterling College Teacher Education and theatre/communication faculty to maintain Kansas State Board of Education and NCATE accreditation.
- Advise current students and recruit prospective students.
Qualifications
- M.A., M.F.A., or PhD. Experience in teaching and technical design.
- Strong collaborative skills and musical theatre production experience.
- College teaching experience that demonstrates an understanding of the teaching/learning process.
- An understanding of an interdisciplinary approach to the liberal arts, and an ability to work with faculty from diverse disciplines.
- Experience in directing is considered a plus.
