Job Summary
The Grant Writer is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. This position involves compliance monitoring, project evaluation, preparing for audits, preparing project budgets, project plans, and reporting on progress and improvement of work for the Grants and Community Development Department. The position is also responsible for providing technical support and managing the daily operations of all grant programming to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards and regulations. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Grants.

Key Functions/Knowledge/Skills
- Analyze and evaluate policies, practices, systems, and procedures of grant functions and associated support services.
- Compete for or solicit funding from Federal, State, or other sources by guiding the department for all requests for proposals (RFPs) and developing grant applications.
- Assist in day-to-day operations involving pre- and post-award grant functions.
- Coordinate submittal of required documents to grantors, including project scopes, narratives, budgets, and timelines.
- Act as a liaison between external partners and funders to ensure compliance with legal and capacity considerations.
- Maintain grant documentation for audits as required by regulations.
- Update and maintain the grant management database.
- Prepare routine and recurring reports such as reimbursement and progress reports.
- Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
- Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and stakeholders.
- Perform related tasks as necessary.
Minimum Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience, or high school graduation or GED plus five years of experience.
Special Certifications & Licenses
Valid Texas Driver’s License.

Receives instructions as to work results to be attained; responsible for recognizing moderately complex problems and resolving them.
