Position Overview:
Mercury Marine is a bold company that enables people to live bold lives. The people who work at Mercury Marine design and build award-winning marine engines and accessories. The in-house creative team of Mercury Marine is responsible for delivering inspiring and emotive creative assets that help grow product market share, engage customers and build brand awareness. The position of Graphic Designer is accountable for taking creative direction and executing creative projects based on briefs, concepts and client/project needs. Traditional design, digital design, and project management with emphasis on strong brand and product knowledge are all roles of this creative position.
This position is part of the in-house Creative Team and reports to the Mercury Marine Art Director. The Graphic Designer will support multiple projects, collaborate across functions, have an acute attention to detail, display forward thinking, and display a commitment to continuous learning. This role provides opportunity for ongoing skill development and increased impact to brand equity and business results.

Essential Functions:
- Layout and design marketing materials for Mercury Marine business units and brands.
- Assist with display creative for use at trade shows, activation events and competitive angling tournaments.
- Image retouching, clipping paths creation, and take art direction from senior creatives.
- Work with senior creatives to ensure work aligns with the supplied creative brief and end results align to overall brand strategy.
- Take creative direction from senior creatives from project start to finish and maintain consistent brand aesthetics utilizing Project Management software.
- Represent the brand as an ambassador. Know the standards and be able to give direction when needed. Maintain consistency of brand aesthetics to enhance client relationships.
- Maintain personal creative resources, visual data, samples, graphic standards, manuals, etc.
- Assist in maintaining Digital Asset Manager system to share digital and traditional media to internal and external partners. Update and assist in maintenance, including daily account additions, removals and meta data accuracy.
Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.
Required Qualifications:
- 7-10 years of graphic design experience with a graphic design firm, advertising agency, in-house corporate graphics department, and/or freelance business.
- Associates Degree in Graphic Design or related field; Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or Fine Arts, preferred
- Online portfolio demonstrating skills and abilities that extend to multiple mediums.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, and Acrobat.
- Video capture & photography skills are a plus
- Understanding of digital and social platforms as well as their use within marketing.
- Ability to multi-task with more than one project to meet deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
- Be collaborative, approachable and have a strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of both analog and digital prepress processes.
- Knowledge of Macintosh computer system.
- Have an appetite for staying ahead of design trends and applying those trends, where appropriate, to the work.
