Summary:
Develop, lead, and execute multiple aspects of the marketing function for 14 Buff City Soap stores in Texas and Colorado. This is an exciting opportunity to build adoption and awareness for what is already becoming an iconic brand. You will be working for PACE Interests, one of the largest Buff City Soap franchisees and a family-owned, values-centric holding company for multiple brands.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead:
1. Grassroots / Event Planning:
§ Identify and pursue community marketing opportunities surrounding each of our stores.
§ For major holidays, store anniversaries, and local events (SXSW, Rodeo Houston, Round Top Antiques Show, Fiesta San Antonio, etc.), plan in-store and off-site brand activations.
§ Brainstorm creative and cost-effective ways to create moments that have the potential to go viral online.
§ Identify and secure brand collaborations that directly drive sales and awareness.
2. Social Media / Influencers:
§ Manage a social media calendar where posts are developed and scheduled ahead of time.
§ Collect organic content (pictures and videos) from store teams to add personality to our online presence.
§ Manage a budget to boost certain posts and gain followers.
§ Partner with local influencers using paid, in-kind, and zero-cost tactics.
§ Stay abreast of consumer trends to ensure presence on leading platforms (e.g. TikTok).
3. Market Activation Coordinators:
§ Alongside our existing Director of Business Partnerships, co-manage a team of 8-10 Market Activation Coordinators.
§ These individuals are store team members (Buff Care Specialists) who spend a few hours every week to support sales and marketing activities.
4. Budget Management / Performance Analysis:
§ For all of the activities listed above, routinely analyze and report on ROI.
§ Manage and optimize all third-party marketing spend.
§ Initiate, develop, and execute initiatives within specified budgets.
§ Code expenses to appropriate accounting categories and review financial statements for accuracy.
1. Miscellaneous:
§ Update Google My Business profiles for holidays and unplanned store closures.
§ Compose and schedule texts to subscribers highlighting promotions, events, and new products.
· Opt-out of certain Corporate-created text blasts that we may not participate in.
Support:
1. Digital Advertising: As needed, provide expertise and feedback on digital advertising campaigns, which will be primarily managed by other PACE personnel or third parties.
2. B2B (Bulk Order) Sales: As needed, provide expertise and marketing collateral to support Bulk Order sales efforts.
3. Buff Gives Back: As needed, provide support to our non-profit partnership program, from outreach to execution.
4. Promotional Strategy: As needed, provide expertise and feedback on sales promotions and discounting strategies.
Position Requirements:
Education
· College business degree in marketing or communications.
Experience & Skills
· Three to four years of experience in a marketing role.
· Proficient with Microsoft suite as well as graphic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, various AI tools, etc.).
· Strong written and verbal communication.
· Self-starter mentality and work ethic.
· Ability to lead and manage teams.
· Highly organized and high level of attention to detail.
· Works well on a diverse and high-performance team.
· Nice-to-have: Comfortable speaking in front of people and representing our brand in media opportunities (TV, radio, public relations).
Travel
· Regular travel within Greater Austin to spend time in our stores and to build relationships in the community.
· Periodic travel to Houston, Midland, San Antonio, and College Station to support marketing activities at those stores.
· Infrequently, there may be travel opportunities to Colorado and Florida (where we are minority owners of 3 Buff City Soap stores).
· Infrequently, there may be travel opportunities to Dallas (where the Corporate Office is) or to visit other franchisees around the country.
