We believe that home services, from plumbing to landscaping to home renovation, should be easy to find, understand, and purchase, just like any other e-commerce experience (a Shopify-like platform for Services). The magic of a great service customer experience comes from SERV automating hundreds of tasks done manually today. We are partnering to build trusted local brands by automating 80% of their operations. We’re looking for an inventive designer to join as our founding designer and help shape the future of service commerce.

The Role

As a Founding Designer at SERV, you will lead the user experience and product design for both our consumer-facing and business-oriented products. You will spearhead the design efforts for our business tools while taking an active, hands-on approach to our Express commerce offerings. Your role will involve crafting innovative purchasing experiences for a range of home services—from established trades like HVAC and plumbing to newly emerging service categories. You will develop, test, and refine working prototypes, engaging directly with real consumers and top-tier brands. Collaborating closely with our GTM (go-to-market) and leadership teams, you will play a pivotal role in securing design partnerships, utilizing your prototypes and concepts to engage and impress potential clients effectively.

What You’ll Do

• Care a Lot: This will show up in your work, your ingenuity and your relationships.
• Envision & Execute: Lead the product design strategy for a transformative e-commerce solution for home services. You’ll own everything from the big-picture concepts to the day-to-day design details.
• Prototype & Validate: Create working prototypes and product flows that our customers and partners can interact with, validate, and love.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work hand-in-hand with engineering, product, GTM, and sales teams to ensure that design decisions align with our core business goals and customer needs.
• Establish Design Foundations: Develop style guides, component libraries, and best practices that set the standard for future designers and contributors as SERV grows.
• Partner with Prospects & Clients: Actively participate in sales pitches, product demos, and design partnership discussions—your creative vision will help land and retain customers.
• Iterate & Improve: Continuously gather feedback from internal teams, customers, and user testing. Iterate rapidly to deliver an outstanding user experience.

About You

• Artist & Craftsperson: You have a deep passion for both the conceptual, artistic side of design and the precise craft of execution. You love creating visually stunning yet highly functional products.
• E-Commerce & Growth Experience: You’ve designed solutions for e-commerce, growth-focused products, or vertical SaaS platforms. You understand how to convert users into customers and keep them engaged.
• Customer-Centric: You thrive on user research and usability testing. You believe that great design starts with real insights from real people.
• Entrepreneurial Mindset: You’re excited to join a fast-moving startup, willing to tackle ambiguity, and eager to build something entirely new with a team that shares your passion.
• Collaboration Skills: You communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike, and you’re ready to work side by side with GTM, sales, and product leads.
• Ownership: As a founding designer, you’ll have high-level ownership and influence. You’re comfortable taking the initiative and making key decisions.
