PREREQUISITES FOR ELIGIBILITY
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Enrollment in one of the following Graduate degree programs at the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling: Professional Mental Health Counseling (with or without Addictions Specialization); Marriage, Couple, & Family Therapy; School Counseling; or Student Affairs Administration.
- Experience and/or training in health promotion, public health, education and/or prevention fields.
- Evidence of sustained pursuit of knowledge and/or experience working with culturally diverse populations.
- Experience and/or training in substance abuse prevention utilizing a harm reduction approach.
- Experience and/or training in sexual violence prevention/harm reduction strategies utilizing a consent-based framework.
- Evidence of readiness to provide an approachable and empathic space to assist students when discussing sensitive topics (e.g. advocacy support for those impacted by interpersonal violence; screening and referral for students considering impact of substance use/misuse, discussion of sexual consent and sexual preferences).
- Experience and/or training in the facilitation of models of behavior change.
- Ability to develop and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to think critically, problem solve, and make decisions in alignment with Health Promotion Office values.
- Ability to effectively plan and organize projects and events.
- Support the mission, vision, and values of the Student Life Division and its expression in promoting lifelong wellness.
- Collaborate and assist with facilitating alcohol and other drugs (AOD) use/abuse interventions and other health promotion programs with individual students and groups.
- Collaborate and assist with facilitating and supporting sexual health, consent, and anti-violence programming for undergraduate student facilitators, and other populations.
- Serve as a Confidential Advocate, providing supportive confidential services to students (state certification training provided)
- Facilitate ongoing training and development of programs for relevant student leaders, staff, and faculty.
- Assist in the evaluation of health promotion programs.
- Assist with the development and dissemination of health communications, including written documents, brochures, social media, and website updates.
- Complete additional projects of interest, as time allows, and related to Health Promotion, Wellness Services, and the mission of the College.
- Collaborate with the Director to develop and assess learning outcomes and employ pedagogical strategies that reflect best practices in prevention programming; work closely with appropriate faculty, staff, and students to ensure their success.
- Meet regularly with the Director for Health Promotion.
- Work collaboratively with other Wellness Services, Student Life, and College personnel as needed
- Maintain documentation of professional contacts in the electronic health records system.
- Ability to maintain adherence to federal regulations on student information confidentiality.
- Conduct other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS DIVERSITY:
Ability to honor and effectively engage students from all identities, particularly individuals from historically marginalized populations.
SCHEDULE:
Approximately 18 hours/week. Monday - Friday, mostly business hours, some evenings and weekends required.
RATE OF PAY:
$20.00 per hour
