We have an immediate need for a Piping Designer. This position can be worked out of Jacksonville, FL, Dothan or Brewton, AL. This is a contract-to-direct opportunity and expected to be permanent within 6 months. Base salary estimated at 70-100K once direct. OT is typically available! You are expected to be available for a minimum of 40 hours per week and be able to work fairly independently in office. Job description: Responsibilities – Piping and Mechanical Design, 90% Create or modify drawings as required, without assistance using correct layers, line types, borders, etc. Detailed installation design of pipe and mechanical equipment. Green or brownfield design of systems based on P&IDs and equipment drawings. Detailed check of mechanical/piping drawings. Perform field work Inspect field conditions. Verify existing field conditions. Route pipe/duct Lay out new structures and equipment for most efficient use of space and resources. Coordinate with other disciplines as required to produce projects with the lowest total installed cost possible. Develop and expand breadth and depth of design knowledge and capabilities. Interact with Clients, Vendors, Contractors to obtain information pertinent to the completion of design work. Feed work to draftsmen to draw up in 2D CAD. Assist CAD Leader with the use and creation of 3D specs, CAD standards, blocks, and other elements that help to streamline, improve, and standardize EGS drawings. Execute projects in 3D. Recognize and notify PM when you need information. Identify with HOLD note on drawing if necessary. Recognize what is hard dimension vs where a field fit allowance can be made. Design to eliminate change orders from the field to the client. Construction Support, 5% Provide construction support services during construction projects and/or mill/equipment shutdowns. Provide field engineering support during installation by others. Help contractors with lockout and permitting. Expedite material. Coordinate activities with Maintenance, Production, and contractors. Review installation for compliance with design documents  Project Management, 5% Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients. Assist in communication with Clients, Vendors, and Contractors. Assist Projects Managers and other team members with the creation, gathering and dissemination of project information including: quotes, drawings, scopes of work, and schedules. Required: AutoCAD Plant 3D or similar 3D software Experience 3+ Years Industrial Piping Layout and Design. Preferred: Pulp & Paper Industry projects a PLUS but not required.
