The Materials and Structural Analysis (MSD) Electron Microscopy (EM) business enables customers to find meaningful answers that accelerate breakthrough discoveries, increase efficiency, and ultimately change the world. The MSD EM business designs, manufactures, and supports a broad range of high-performance microscopy workflow solutions that provide images and answers at micro-, nano-, and picometer scales.

How you will make an impact:
The Field Service Engineer II in the MSD division is responsible for on-site installation, servicing, and repair of complex systems such as Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Dual Beam systems. The role involves investigating and improving operational quality, instructing customers, liaising with clients on technical matters, and conducting installations of electron microscopy systems.

What you will do:
- Install complex equipment on-site and ensure proper operation through testing
- Perform scheduled maintenance and troubleshooting
- Develop positive relationships with customers and colleagues
- Complete technical training and submit service reports
- Perform preventive maintenance and problem-solving with team support
- Train customers on system maintenance and provide feedback to quality teams
- Update system documentation and provide guidance for report writing
- Act as a training resource and collaborate with application scientists

How you will get here:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in electronics, physics, engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience (2-5 years)
Experience
4-5 years operating, troubleshooting, and repairing analysis tools like SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar; experience with UHV is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Fluent in English
- Ability to work under pressure and make decisions independently
- Detail-oriented, problem solver, team player
- Confidentiality and strong communication skills
- Proficient in Windows and schematics reading
- Experience with high-vacuum and high-voltage systems
- Willing to travel 25-50%, possess valid driver’s license and passport, and pass background checks
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various environments including labs and customer sites
