Tridon Communications is growing, and we are seeking a Radio Communications Technician for work local to Fort McMurray. Relocation assistance will be provided.
About You:
The ideal person will have a diploma in electronics or wireless communications engineering technology with hands-on experience testing, installing, programming, and repairing wireless and electronic communication equipment and systems. You have good analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and mechanical skills and have a can-do attitude, practice safety first, and are not afraid of hard work.
About the Job:
The Radio Communications Technician will be responsible for programming, installing, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing communications equipment directly on the customer site, providing hands-on support to our clients.
Must Haves:
- 2-year diploma in electronics or communications engineering technology or related field with 2 years of work experience / 4-year bachelor’s degree in electronics combined with related work experience.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Operator’s License with a clean driving record within the last 5 years.
- Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing on a regular and frequent basis for access to client site.
- Basic diagnostic and radio programming skills.
- Ability to use a multimeter to test various radio functionality parameters as well as a spectrum analyzer.
- Basic point-to-point and point-to-multipoint microwave deployment and setup experience.
- Experience installing portable audio or radio equipment into all forms of light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles.
- Knowledge of electrical wiring codes and best practices.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools, test equipment, and design/fabrication techniques.
- Experience working with wireless networking switches and routers.
Assets include:
- Experience working with Motorola and Kenwood portable radio equipment.
- Experience with large volume radio systems directly on client site.
- Prior experience working with Motorola, Kenwood, Icom, or Harris Radios.
- Trailer towing and heavy construction or mine driving experience.
- Prior work experience in heavy industry, oil and gas, and/or mining sector.
