General purpose: The Assistant Directors of the Fashion Show work in tandem with the Director to curate a vision for the Office of Mission & Community Learning’s Annual Benefit Fashion Show. They support the Director and help assess and determine the needs of the team.
Summary of Essential Functions:
- Support the Fashion Show Director in making arrangements for the successful execution of the fashion show.
- Curate and coordinate the selected designers and supervise the Photography/Graphic Design/Videography team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist the director with curating the fashion show, photo shoot, marketing, advertising, meetings, etc.
- Create a theme for the show in collaboration with the Director and Office of Mission & Community Learning leadership team.
- Assist with organizing the photo shoot, designer interviews, and promotion events/publications.
- Organize documents for meetings and administrative tasks.
- Assess and evaluate the needs and wants of the designers.
- Participate actively in designer critiques.
- Schedule individual check-in meetings with designers.
- Supervise volunteers—schedule meetings, delegate tasks before, during, and after the show.
- Analyze weekly reports to anticipate issues and help the team avoid problems.
- Coordinate biweekly meetings with the Assistant Director and the Office of Mission & Community Learning leadership team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Assist in applying and enforcing Mission & Community Learning initiatives and policies to ensure effective implementation of ABFS events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- People skills capable of leadership and managing timelines.
- Detail-oriented and diligent in following up and completing tasks.
- Organized with practical and creative leadership abilities.
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities; proficient in social media platforms.
- Knowledge of wearable art construction and processes.
- Knowledge of event planning logistics.
- Familiarity with MICA’s 32-year tradition of the Annual Benefit Fashion Show.
- Strong curatorial and stage management skills.
- Ability to lead large teams of creatives.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Time management strategies.
- Familiarity with Google Calendar.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in fashion and/or event management.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be in good social and academic standing.
- Currently enrolled as a full-time MICA student (junior or senior undergraduate or graduate).
- Sincere desire to support MICA and the Office of Mission & Community Learning events.
- Commit to one-year employment (fall and spring semesters).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Adaptability and innovative thinking.
- Strong task management skills.
- Ability to respond promptly to emergencies and risks.
- Effective communication and delegation skills.
Compensation:
- 3-10 hours/week from August 2025 to April 2026.
- $15/hour.
Conditions of Employment:
- Enrolled as a full-time student in good standing at the time of application and throughout employment.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Attend all mandatory meetings.
- Work hours limited to 20 hours/week across all on-campus positions.
- Must not skip academic commitments for work unless approved.
- Past violations of policies may disqualify candidates.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: Employees may need to stand, walk, sit, handle objects, reach, balance, stoop, talk, hear, and lift up to 15 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Work environment may include weather exposure with minimal noise levels.
