Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, a vibrant and spiritual growing parish of 1200 families in the beautiful town of Lambertville, NJ seeks an Organist/Director of Music. www.parishofsaintjohn.org.
Salary/Benefits: Commensurate with educational credentials and experience with full Diocese Benefits Package.
Responsibility:
· The DOM plans and oversees all aspects of the music in the liturgy in theparish, manage rehearsals, and training cantors, prepare music for choral scholars, chamber choir, and instrumentalists.
· Serve as organist for most liturgies for the parish.
· Prepare, coordinate and execute music for all weekend liturgies, Holy Days, First Communion, Confirmation, All Souls, and funerals, weddings, Adoration, other services as necessary.
· Schedule and coordinate all musicians 3- 4 month in advance.
· Recruit, Train, Rehearse with Cantors, Choral Scholars, Chamber choir regularly.
· Hire Instrumentalists for special mass (Christmas, Easter)
· Consult with wedding couples & plan, coordinate all parish weddings with extra compensation.
· Oversee the operation and maintenance of the Instruments.
· Coordinate in conjunction with the Parish office and the necessary service for piano technicians, any routine or non-routine maintenance of the church organ and piano.
· Understand & Manage the Church’s copyright subscription
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have 3-5 years’ experience in a related parish as DOM, have an understanding of GIRM and the rubrics of the Roman Missal, promote, direct, and coordinate church’s full participation in liturgy. Bachelor’s degree in Music (Organ or Choral Conducting), Master’s preferred, along with excellent organ, piano and choral conducting skills.
