The City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome a Communication Center Dispatcher to the Colorado Springs Airport Operations team! As a Communication Center Dispatcher, you will communicate and work with all departments of Aviation divisions, tenants, stakeholders, as well as Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA). You will perform communication, customer service and other operational and emergency response coordination.

Job Type: Full-Time; Non-Exempt
Hourly Salary: $19.98 - $23.99
Work Schedule: Rotating 8–12-hour shifts to include mornings, afternoon, evening, weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 operational coverage. Availability for emergency callouts is required.
Pre-Employment Requirements: The selected candidate must pass (or have already passed) a fingerprint-based criminal history records check as required by the Transportation Security Administration.
As a Communication Center Dispatcher for the Colorado Springs Airport, you will:
- Respond effectively to alerts and emergency situations
- Utilize communications software to ensure all necessary parties and agencies are notified
- Effectively coordinate communications and information sharing to mitigate the effect of a situation on airport operations
- Monitor multi-band radio consoles, CCTVs, security alarms, emergency phones, building automation systems, weather warning equipment and flight tracking devices
- Assist with public and tenants concerns and complaints
- Work in a twenty-four (24/7) operation environment with extensive reporting and dispatching responsibilities
- Operate a centralized telephone, paging, intercom, and two-way radio communications console
- Answer and properly route incoming calls
- Respond to inquiries from airport tenants and the public regarding services, capabilities, responsibilities, and general information
- Determine the proper routing of emergency and non-emergency notifications
- Develop and maintain communication logs and reports, which include information from callers, dispatch records, status of field units, and radio communications
- Operate computer terminals and perform data entry
- Retrieve information from computerized databases
- Develop and maintain information references, maps, directories, reports, etc., in manual and computerized form to include spreadsheets and databases
- Perform various inspections throughout the facility to ensure compliance with federal, state, and Airport rules and regulations

Knowledge of:
- Aviation and security software programs
Ability to:
- Experience juggling diverse responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
- Demonstrate the ability to remain calm and collected in high-pressure situations
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
- One year of full-time radio operations or related experience plus customer service experience
