Definition
The City is seeking a full-time Producer II and full-time Senior Producer that will be responsible for coordinating television and audiovisual production for the City's government access channel. The Producer position facilitate maintaining the city's positive image by building, promoting, and maintaining the City's brand, through the identification, implementation, and continuous improvement of best practices in public relations methods and media coverage. Upon recruitment screening criteria, the selected candidates will be offered the position that best suits the needs of the City depending on their qualifications and experience.
Examples of Work
Producer II:
- Plans, produces, writing, and edit municipal programming and special events.
- Assists with coordinating pre-production planning and post-production activities;
- Identifies, maintains, and manages audio/visual, recording. and production equipment in MCTV and Council Chambers.
- Serves as videographer, photographer, and MCTV content specialist during emergencies and other major events; identifies opportunities for contract agreements MCTV.
- Designs and produces graphic materials for City events, news, and programs.
- Subject to 24-hour recall.
Senior Producer:
- Performs duties of the Producer II listed.
- Performs occasional on-camera and voice-over work for City productions; meet with city staff to ensure adequate coverage of key events and activities; assist in producing and writing promotional spots, packages, and features for City services.
- Ensures all established policies and procedures related to the government access channel are followed; update policies and procedures as necessary to meet standards; this includes what can be submitted to air and who is allowed to use the channel.
- Maintain guidelines and forms for graphic and video request.
- Utilizing software suite equipment. Operating live broadcast equipment for the City Council, work sessions and other live events as required; to include control room operation of cameras and switching equipment; using motion and still graphic software to support studio and field productions; promoting and assisting with maintaining video presence on the City's website and other social media outlets.
- Prepares and submits budget requests and recommends equipment purchases and replacements.
Education, Experience, or Certification
Producer II: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in media production, communications, television broadcasting, film, journalism, advertising, public relations, or closely related field. Two (2) years of relevant producer related experience.
Senior Producer: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in media production, communications, television broadcasting, film, journalism, advertising, public relations, or closely related field. Five (5) years of relevant producer relevant experience.
Producer II & Senior Producer candidates must be proficient in Final Cut Pro X or equivalent NLE software, HTML Coding, Garage Band or other sound recording software, Adobe Creative Suite-Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator; Microsoft Suite, Mac Suite-Pages, Numbers & Keynote, iLife Bundle, various video and audio codecs, and conversion methods. Valid driver's license required.
