The Opportunity: The Kingston Whig-Standard is looking for a Multimedia Journalist who can deliver well-crafted news and feature stories and take photographs and occasionally, video. The Whig-Standard publishes daily online and four days a week in print. The publication enjoys a leadership role in the community as the newspaper of record in Kingston and the surrounding region.
What you’ll do:
- Write and edit stories for print and our website.
- Shoot still photos, and occasionally shoot videos.
- Generate story/feature ideas.
- Engage in energetic use of social media.
- Ability to cover sports.
Qualifications
- Candidates should have a journalism degree or diploma.
- A reliable car and a valid driver's license are needed. There may be weekend and evening shifts.
- Ability to edit videos is an asset.
- Good knowledge of social media.
- A working knowledge of WordPress is also an asset.
