QUALIFICATIONS:
Must demonstrate proficiency with a variety of technologies, a comprehensive library of multimedia resources, integration, and quality instruction. Must possess strong leadership and communication skills, as well as be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and patient.Professional Educator's License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement(s),
including Library Information Science (LIS) endorsementClassroom experience preferred; at least two yearsExtensive experience with collaboration and purposeful curricular planning/technology integration with classroom (elementary buildings) and content area teachers (middle school)Experience providing professional development to staff, administration, and parentsSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

JOB GOAL:
To provide multifaceted learning experiences for all students and curricular/instructional support for all teachers utilizing multiple resources and technology focused on inquiry, inclusion, collaboration, curation, exploration, and engagement in order to foster and enhance student learning; make decisions and demonstrate support of the mission, vision, and goals of District 142.

Performance Responsibilities:
Engage students in learning experiences that enable them to independently utilize the Library Media Center and associated resources; foster an environment where students are empowered to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic researchers, and ethical users of informationAssist students, teachers, and administrators to identify resource materials for use in classroom and/or class assignments and programsFacilitate the introduction to technology hardware and software usage to students who have varying levels of knowledge and skillsFacilitate instruction on the appropriate use of technology, digital literacy, and in the production of a variety of media including: print, digital, visual, and audioDesign learning experiences introducing digital citizenship and inquiry, guiding students as they learn to evaluate, use, synthesize, and communicate information from a variety of sourcesLeverage approved curricular resources and departmental knowledge in collaboration with colleagues and school administration to schedule special programs and activities in the Library Media CenterEstablish and implement procedures for selection, acquisition, inventory, circulation, and distribution of materials in all formats to keep resources current, fresh, and able to extend and enrich current curriculumManages comprehensive oversight and knowledge of all Library Media Center resources and inventory, including: selection of library materials appropriate to the population to be served, weeding (evaluating books/resources for retention within the collection), cataloging, and classificationPerforms circulation activities (e.g., item check-in/check-out) for the purpose of controlling the use, location and availability of items in the collectionProcesses library books, periodicals, software and media materials for the providing students and staff with required materialsMaintains materials inventory (e.g., library books, library hardware/software, media equipment, and related instructional materials) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference to ensure availability when requiredProvides classroom instructional support for teachers through co-teaching, modeling, and providing feedbackResearches useful technologies, trends, teaching strategies, and best practices for teachersAssists with any online student assessment(s)Provides differentiated professional development training opportunities for District staff, including school improvement days, staff meetings, and Forest Ridge University daysDemonstrates a willingness to perform duties in accordance with the Board of Education and District requirementsPerforms other duties assigned by the Chief School Business Official, Director of Curriculum, Technology Director, Superintendent, and/or DesigneeSubscribes to a code of ethics worth emulating and treats all people within the educational community fairly, equitably, and with dignity and respect
