Job Summary
The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Part Time Library Assistant on the Dahlonega campus. This position will provide technical and/or paraprofessional assistance in the Libraries at nights and on weekends.
Responsibilities
- Assists students, faculty, staff, and community patrons in person, chat or by telephone. Provides check-in and check-out of library material and basic information about library and university services. Resolves patron account issues and makes referrals as appropriate.
- Participates in collection maintenance work and projects including, shelving, preparing new materials for circulation, shelf-reading, shelf cleaning, shifting, and inventories.
- Assists with opening, closing, and monitoring the safety and security of library users, library property and facility.
- Other duties assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of integrated library system (OPAC), and application software such as Microsoft Office and basic office equipment
- Strong written and verbal communications and capacity to interact positively with all levels of university community. Initiative and good judgment as a team member
- Ability to manage multiple tasks. Strong oral and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills. Positive, customer-focus service skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Excellent technology troubleshooting skills. Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment as a team member. Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or an equivalent number of college hours (60).
- 2 years library or customer service experience.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic library experience preferred.
Proposed Salary
Minimum Starting Salary: $ 13.73 per hour
