Job Description: Design Project Manager
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Design Project Manager (Design PM) to join our creative team. This role serves as a critical link between the creative process and project delivery, ensuring that all design initiatives align with project objectives and client expectations. The Design PM operates at a strategic level, collaborating closely with designers, stakeholders, and senior leadership to drive project success. As a key member of the Project Leadership (PL) team, the Design PM is responsible for resource allocation, project timelines, quality standards, and client communications.
This role is essential in managing corporate communications, branding projects, and other high-impact initiatives, ensuring seamless execution and innovative design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution- Oversee design projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and client expectations.
- Develop project scopes, timelines, budgets, and success metrics in collaboration with stakeholders and creative leads.
- Proactively identify risks and develop contingency plans to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
- Maintain a clear project roadmap, ensuring smooth transitions between project phases.
- Act as the primary liaison between design teams, clients, and senior leadership, ensuring clear communication and expectation management.
- Define project requirements, success criteria, and deliverables in collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
- Advocate for creative solutions that meet both business objectives and innovative design standards.
- Provide regular status updates, reports, and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with senior project leads to allocate resources efficiently and balance team workloads.
- Work closely with designers, writers, and other creative professionals to facilitate smooth collaboration and workflow.
- Support team members by providing strategic guidance, troubleshooting challenges, and ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Monitor team capacity and reallocate resources as necessary to maintain productivity and efficiency.
- Implement best practices and methodologies to optimize project workflows and improve efficiency.
- Identify areas for process improvement and work with leadership to refine project management strategies.
- Develop standardized templates, documentation, and project tracking tools to enhance transparency and accountability.
- Train and mentor junior team members on project management principles and best practices.
- Ensure all design deliverables meet quality standards, brand guidelines, and client expectations.
- Oversee review and approval processes, ensuring timely feedback and necessary revisions are implemented.
- Partner with Creative Directors and Design Leads to maintain a high standard of creative excellence across projects.
- Track project performance, analyze outcomes, and implement improvements for future initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Design Project Manager, Creative Producer, or similar role within a design or agency environment.
- Strong understanding of design principles, branding, and creative production processes.
- Excellent project management skills, including experience with tools such as Asana, Monday.com, Trello, or similar platforms.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience liaising between creative teams, clients, and senior leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
- Strategic thinker with a problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach to project execution.
- Knowledge of budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management in creative project settings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in an agency setting or managing large-scale branding and corporate communications projects.
- Familiarity with design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, etc.) to understand workflow requirements.
- Experience managing external vendors, freelancers, or contract designers.
- Background in marketing, corporate communications, or brand management is a plus.
