Are you passionate about serving students and families in a well established virtual environment? South Carolina Learns, established in 2013, provides fully accredited, top-notch education for grades K-12 through Cyber Academy of South Carolina (CASC) and Heron Virtual Academy of South Carolina (HVASC). We provide an individualized virtual education so students are prepared to enter the workforce or continue with postsecondary education regardless of circumstance.
The Marketing & Events Coordinator promotes engaging communication practices between parents, teachers and support staff. The Coordinator is also responsible for overseeing tasks throughout the event planning process. Their duties include the project management of in-person school events including identifying venues and vendors, communicating with vendors throughout the planning process, running errands for supplies and decorations, and working with staff to ensure the completion of a successful event.

Develops and maintains a range of engaging external communications including, but not limited to, social media posts and reels, family and staff newsletters, school announcements, school event flyers, local website, auto-dialer calls/texts and social media groups;Writes, edits and designs content for internal communications (newsletters, calendars, emails, videos, SharePoint, etc.);Maintains close contact with school leaders and with Stride/K12 to identify opportunities for marketing contentMaintains school websites, including making updates and occasional reorganization or design changesCoordinates facilities, lodging, food and beverage, travel, entertainment and other related issues for monthly student outings plus special events;Works closely with Finance to monitor event budgetsNegotiates with vendors and establishes relationships with repeat vendorsCoordinates arrangements with vendors and site logistics as neededWorks closely with Engagement Specialists to execute planned monthly outings for students and familiesServes as school-level liaison for 3rd party marketing effortsAdditional duties as assignedHigh school diploma required; bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or related field of study preferred
Required Experience
Strong background in social media content creation for an organization (i.e., not just for personal social media)Prior experience creating print and digital collateral for an organizationExperience planning corporate eventsExperience using Canva, Adobe Express, or other content creation softwareRequired Qualifications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels as well as with vendorsStrong organizational and project management skillsStrong attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to take initiative to identify content opportunities in a virtual settingAll clearances and background checks as required to work in a South Carolina public schoolAbility to travel, sometimes overnight, to attend school events as well as meetings/conferences and venue visits as requested (up to 15%)Preferred Qualifications
Event planner/event management certificationExperience planning events and marketing content for an entity in the education sectorExperience using Adobe IllustratorKnowledge of WordPress and Google Sites

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 8-4 or as defined by the school.
