Position Summary
The Part-time Library Assistant delivers a high level of quality library services ensuring the provision of value-added experiences for all customers and performs routine tasks in support of the library.Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is one of America’s leading urban public libraries, serving one of the country’s great emerging metropolitan areas in North Carolina. Essential Functions
- Promote the library’s collection and services
- Perform circulation activities
- Provide service desk coverage
- Provide materials to appropriate bins for transfer
- Provide research assistance to customers
- Utilize integrated library systems software
- Assist customers at several service points
- Train and assist customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes
- Collaborate with Librarians to deliver programming and outreach services
- Assist with volunteer management
- Perform shelving and weeding duties
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of one year of customer service experience including library or retail.Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: Yes
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of integrated library systems software (IE: Horizon)
- Bilingual
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of:- Alpha-numeric sorting systems
- Various library systems
- Telephone etiquette

- Excellent time management skills with attention to detail

Computer Skills
Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office SuiteWork Environment
Works in an office setting with moderate noise. Schedules will include some nights and weekends.Selection
