Hybrid working with expectation of 50/50 split
Our Client: Is an integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector. They have over 1,000 staff working across eight regional centres, primarily supporting eight long term water sector frameworks operating both as on their own and in joint ventures and alliances.
The Role: They are looking to strengthen their Design Management team with a Senior Design Manager role based in Northern Ireland, with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Regional Engineering Lead (Operational) and Technical Discipline Lead for Design Management (Functional) and your role will cover Design Management of projects awarded by NIW under their recently awarded framework with them.
Responsibilities: Provide commitment to excellence in Health & Safety (H&S) in design, complying fully with relevant local specifications, codes, rules, regulations and requirements and all relevant H&S legislation.
Ensure that H&S hazards are identified and managed and that residual risks are communicated effectively.
Lead the Design team in delivery of their responsibilities and to ensure a focused approach to meet customer requirements and project objectives.
Be accountable for the expenditure, efficiency challenge and overall outturn costs for the design element of project delivery, producing deliverables within the allocated resource hours and by key dates.
Organise all elements of Design, documenting it in the Project Management Plan and preparing monthly status update reports as necessary.
Attend and contribute to all relevant programme, project and technical meetings.
Ensure that the technical solution is produced to outperform on costs, whilst maintaining quality standards and delivery on time.
Provide where required, technical support during Assembly and Commissioning stages.
Ensure that all technical work is undertaken to the correct Standards and Specifications, following the appropriate Systems of Work and Quality Assurance procedures.
Contribute to achieving the sustainability targets, particularly by reducing the embodied and operational Carbon Footprints of the solutions.
Communicate and work effectively with people from other partner organisations, backgrounds and disciplines, utilising their knowledge and experience and add to this with your own experience and know how.
Experience: Extensive experience of multi-disciplinary design management, in a design-build environment.
Degree in an engineering-related discipline.
Chartered Engineer in an engineering-related discipline.
Must be delivery-driven with the ability to set targets and manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost and quality objectives.
Working knowledge of CDM and construction Health & Safety.
Strategic, operational, technical and management skills.
Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment e.g. civil engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering and project management.
Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently, and convincingly.
Able to travel within region is expected as the role requires.
