The Assistant Community Manager serves as the strength and support of the property by assisting the Community Manager in administering and supervising the overall management of the property. The role includes functions related to multi-family property leasing, marketing, and resident relations.
Job Summary
Assists the Community Manager with the overall management of the property, including financial and accounting aspects.
Reports to: Community Manager, Regional Property Supervisor, and/or Regional Vice President
Supervises: Entire onsite staff during Community Manager’s absence
Essential Functions

- Use approved lease and credit reporting applications.
- Process payments according to company policy.
- Track late payments, apply late charges, and send late notices.
- Handle NSF/returned checks and follow up on delinquencies.
- Manage collections, evictions, and final account statements.
- Send collection files to agencies within 30 days of move-out.
- Assume Property Manager’s duties in their absence.
- Perform functions related to leasing, marketing, and resident relations for multi-family properties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Training
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in multi-family property management.
Certificates and Memberships
- Preferred: NALP, COS, TCS, HQS, UPCS, LIHTC training.
Skills and Abilities
- Background in leasing, accounting, marketing, and customer service or related education.
- Supervisory skills for managing team members.
- Effective communication skills.
- Professional interaction with residents, vendors, and clients.
- Mathematical proficiency.
- Proficiency with office equipment, property management software, and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Fair Housing Laws, OSHA, EEOC, and local regulations.
