3/31/2025 Position Summary Supervise the publication of the Daily Lobo. The Editor-in-Chief hires all desk editors and supervises their work. The Editor-in-Chief also supervises editorial production and copy edit staffs. The Editor fields concerns from the public and serves as a liaison between the advertising and editorial staffs. The Editor is expected to ensure the print newspaper is published weekly and the email newsletter is published four times per week. The Editor is accountable for all content in the newspaper, website, email newsletter, and social media. The Editor may also be responsible for representing the Daily Lobo at various university, city, state, and national meetings. The Editor works with the Business Manager and reports to the Student Publications Board. Minimum Qualifications Enrolled in a degree-seeking program at UNM, enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress. Preferred Qualifications
Must be a student enrolled at UNM. Have 6 hours or more at UNM during the current and preceding semester. Preferred candidates have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 by the end of last semester. The editor is required to be enrolled at UNM in a degree-granting program for a minimum of 6 credit hours throughout the term of office, which is May 2023-April 2024. Management skills. Experience as a newspaper reporter and desk editor. Knowledge of Associated Press Style and media law. Strong writing and editing skills. Experience in deadline situations.
