Job Summary:
The Component Design Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the design department and maintaining consistent quality design work within the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and engage the design team
Assign estimating and design work
Interface with the production team
Implement and audit standardized business practices
Recruit, hire, and onboard designers
Manage discipline and termination of designers
Monitor designer productivity and quality control
Ensure customer service and standards are met
Communicate design issues and concerns with the General Manager and Corporate Design Manager
Share design ideas and best practices with leadership
Collaborate with sales staff, customers, and subcontractors to meet schedules
Resolve issues promptly
Occasional travel may be required
Perform other duties as assigned
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of industry and component design experience
Proficiency in industry and supplier software applications
Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
High School Diploma, GED, or Associate’s Degree required
Experience in rough carpentry, project supervision, or project management is a plus
Ability to read blueprints and perform estimating
Experience with CAD and BIM is preferred
