Job Title: Media Director
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Media to lead our growing media department. The ideal candidate should have 7-10 years of comprehensive experience in media planning and buying across consumer touchpoints (traditional & online channels). The Director of Media will play a pivotal role in developing and executing strategic media plans, managing client relationships, and driving growth for the media department. The media team is made up of ~10 hands on keyboard experts with various specialities - traditional media, Google ads, Meta ads etc. With ~50 media clients, we execute in over 70 markets across the U.S.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Provide department leadership with clear direction and expectations.
- Conduct quarterly conversations with the team, focused on professional development.
- Foster a collaborative and creative work environment that encourages team members to excel in their roles.
- Lead weekly department team meetings to resolve any issues and stay focused on achieving individual and department rocks each quarter.
Media Planning:
- Utilize a deep understanding of the evolving media landscape to optimize clients media activation across traditional, social, and digital media channels to maximize campaign impact.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop best in class creative to deliver on media goals.
Media Execution:
- Support negotiations with media vendors to secure optimal rates and added value for clients.
- Share industry trends, market conditions, and emerging media opportunities across the org.
- Manage relationships with media partners to strengthen agency positioning and access new opportunities.
- Enforce a clear QA process across the team to limit any business write-off’s in the monthly billing cycle.
- Establish communication processes across departments to support improved media execution.
Client Management:
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Support team in developing smart media activation strategies for clients that reach their key audiences and achieve’s aligned to KPI’s.
- Establish a consistent reporting process across all clients that speak to performance insights, optimizations, negotiation highlights etc.
- Actively support client pitches & continue to refine new client onboarding for seamless experience.
Budget Management:
- Oversee budget allocation and optimization across all clients.
- Support overall budget system data accuracy.
- Report weekly on month’s forecasted billing by service type as a part of company’s Open Book Management.
- Responsible for delivering to finance monthly billing by client across each service type.
- Identify opportunities to increase department profitability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in media planning and buying within an advertising agency.
- Strong understanding of total media landscape.
- Proven track record of successful client management and team leadership.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
- Proficient in media planning tools and platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
