Job Description: The Director of Music is responsible for supporting the liturgical life of the parish through sacred music, which includes musical accompaniment, singing, and musical direction.
Responsibilities:
- Select liturgical music for weekend Masses, Holy Days of Obligation and penance services.
- Play and coordinate music for the weekend Masses (Sat: 4pm, Sun: 9 & 11am), Holy Days, Penance Services, and other parish liturgical events.
- Play and coordinate music for scheduled weddings & funerals.
- Practice and work with cantors for Masses.
- Coordinate and schedule outside musicians upon request.
- Direct the Adult Choir regularly, especially in anticipation of particular liturgical seasons such as Christmas & Easter.
- Direct the Children’s Choir within reason and practicality, given the permission and support of parents and children’s schedules.
The above list is preferred but final responsibilities can be determined based upon the applicant’s skill/experience.
