You might be a junior reporter at a local paper, covering courts, council meetings, or crime, and eager to make your big break. Or you might be a seasoned journalist at a major paper, tired of the same old beat and burning to expose wrongdoing in places you’re not allowed to touch. Requirements You don’t need a degree to apply, but you must fulfill the following criteria: Clips that demonstrate you have hustle, curiosity, doggedness, and independence. At least eight years’ experience at a news outlet—covering fast-moving events and/or unpeeling multilayered stories in an interesting way. You must also be currently working as a reporter/writer either as a freelancer or full-time. Ideas for investigations that expose not just what is worthy, but what will get readers talking.
