Overview
Develop and implement a multimedia communications strategy;·
Organize press events and prepare materials, including media advisories;·
Draft and edit press statements and releases;·
Arrange media interviews and respond to press inquiries;·
Write and place op-eds;·
Track media coverage and compile press clips and mentions;·
Prepare talking points and speeches for the Supervisor;·
Expand the Supervisor's social media presence;·
Produce copy and visual content for social media;·
Plan layout and produce bilingual content for e-newsletter;·
Produce and maintain web content;·
Prepare and assist in the production of presentations, reports, fact sheets, etc.;·
Cultivate media relationships and maintain media contact list;·
Facilitate internal communications.The ideal candidate is able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines, be an effective leader as well as a team player, and thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment.Required Skills:·
Strong written and oral communication skills, including grammar and editing;·

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work on several projects simultaneously;·
Familiarity with the First District and able to work with racially and socio-economically diverse communities;·
Knowledge of Los Angeles County government systems;·
Excellent time management skills; able to manage competing, time-sensitive priorities;·
Knowledge of a second language spoken in the District is preferred;·
Pleasant personality with a dynamic professional attitude.Minimum Qualifications:·
Three (3) years of experience as a Communications Deputy in the office of an elected official, a governmental office, or related field in private sector;·
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;·
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out essential job-related functions.Please note that this is a professional level staff position that will require work hours beyond the normal workday and will include weekend and holiday work. The position is full-time, exempt, and unclassified. The salary range is $105,000 - $125,000 per year. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and includes excellent benefits.
