Position Description and Purpose:

We have an opening for a newly created Communications Specialist on the People and Talent team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in internal and external communications for the organization. You will be responsible for employee communications, Roskam's employment brand, and the company and recruiting presence online and in the community. In addition, the Communications Specialist will lead and support company events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Internal CommunicationsDevelops an overall internal communications strategy for the organizationResponsible for all employee communications, utilizing multiple vehicles and tactics to keep employees informed and engaged. , Includes writing content, organizing internal events, and facilitating communication between departments.Defines communication process for employee recognition, employee information, leadership communication, etc.Supports communication needs for various People and Talent events, including, but not limited to, benefit enrollment, employee meetings, and celebration events.Develops and maintains communication channels such as intranet, email newsletters, and town hall meetings to foster transparency and alignment within the organization.
External CommunicationsSupports the design and implementation of a social media strategy to build awareness and connection to our corporate brand in partnership with the Chief Growth Officer. Owns social media postings for the organization.Manages social media accounts and online presence, including content creation, scheduling, monitoring, and engaging with followers to increase brand visibility and engagement.Manages day-to-day recruiting social media.Creates and manages content for social media by researching stories internally and collaborating with employees and company leaders.Maintains content on career site, job boards, third-party sales, social media sites and corporate website and ensures all profiles and content are on brand and up to date.Develops innovative ways to increase follower engagement, improve website traffic, and drive applications.
Content CreationSupports the People and Talent function in designing and developing materials related to onboarding and orientation.Assists in branding training materials and presentations to educate employees on company initiatives, policies, and procedures.Supports organization in extending our brand messaging for functional needs. This could include posters, presentations, messaging, signs, training materials, etc.Point person for driving internal content through the feedback loop and then scheduling and sending out internal communications content.
Company and Community EventsEngages in strategic relationships within the community. Coordinates company volunteer opportunities.Leads, coordinates, and/or supports employee related events, such as safety recognition events, quarterly dinners, and plant specific events.
Measuring and ReportingAnalyzes trends, tracks campaign metrics, and turns those into actionable insights.Monitors and measures the effectiveness of internal and external communication activities through analytics and feedback mechanisms and makes recommendations for continuous improvement.
Performs other duties as needed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent related experience).At least three (3) years of communications or marketing experience.Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.Experience handling highly confidential and sensitive information.Ability to interact with all levels of employees and be perceived as an approachable and knowledgeable resource.Ability to collaborate and interact with all levels and functional areas.Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
