Job Description
Purpose of Position:
Primary clinical position to provide creative arts therapy activities to pour Psychiatric Emergency Program which includes adults and children. Duties include providing age appropriate activities and groups who are awaiting disposition and stabilization for acute psychiatric disorders. Clinical intervention, clinical progress note documentation. Ability to cover weekends and Mondays at our sites, may include inpatient activities when needed by department. Engage with patients to provide treatment & positive hospital experience.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide a variety of therapy sessions that engages patients and provide positive therapeutic patient experience. Perform required daily group programing that meet the needs of acute psychiatric population I CPEP and on inpatient unit. Perform required assessments & clinical documentation.
- Perform group & documentation coverage for CPEP inpatient units when needed to maintain adequate group programming and documentation.
- Able to supervise students/ designated staff. Maintain supplies & group room as needed for sessions according to regulation
Minimum Qualifications
Assignment Level I
1. A valid License or Limited Permit issued by the New York State Education Department to practice as a Creative Arts Therapist. Employees working with a Limited Permit must obtain
Licensure within two years from their date of appointment.
Assignment Level II
1. A valid License issued by the New York State Education Department to practice as a Creative Arts Therapist; and
2. Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience in creative arts therapy.
Assignment Level III
In addition to meeting the requirements for Assignment Levels II, Assignment Level III
requires:
1. One additional year of experience.
Department Preferences
Experience in inpatient psychiatry, crisis management, and providing patient- centered group therapy sessions
Tour 2: 9:00am-5:00pm
