ACLS Mission and Overview Formed a century ago, the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) is a nonprofit federation of 81 scholarly organizations. Overview of Department This role reports to the Communications Manager Project Summary Reporting to the Communications Manager and working closely with the Director of Communications, as well as program and fundraising staff across the organization, this internship will partner with our production vendor in creating digital content that highlights ACLS programs and initiatives and the benefits of institutional membership. This intern will also create content by editing existing content, graphics, and still images into compelling reels and other digital packages highlighting fellowship and grant competition opportunities and benefits for awardees. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the creative side of ACLS communications strategy and outreach. This intern will gain valuable skills and experience in promotional writing, video production, project management, brand-driven content development, social media strategy, search engine optimization research and strategy, and presentation for lay audiences, as well as develop their own portfolio of work to use for future opportunities. This is a remote role that requires 20-25 hours/week with flexible work hours. Responsibilities include: Identify appropriate highlights and edit video transcript text into compelling scripts; Draft intro/outro text, lower thirds, and other content for video packages; Draft and administer production calendars, review and editing flows, and other resources; Work with external production vendor in producing content from footage captured at 2025 ACLS Annual Meeting; Collaborate with Communications team and other ACLS stakeholders in identifying themes and developing strategy for additional promo content; Edit video content and write compelling website and social media text to accompany completed videos and stories; Collaborate with Communications team in optimizing content with metadata; Coordinate with Communications team in storing and cataloging digital assets; Create and deliver culminating presentation for ACLS leadership and staff; Performing related projects assigned. Qualifications: Currently enrolled or recently (within past 12 months) completed in a degree program in marketing, advertising, journalism, communications, digital technologies, emerging media, film production, or related field; Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite and Canva, Adobe Creative Suite a plus; Highly organized and detail oriented with ability manage priorities, multi-task, advance projects, and meet to and deadlines; Strong writing and editing skills; Ability to work collaboratively, as well as independently; Excellent interpersonal skills; Interest or experience in issues and challenges facing the humanities and social sciences; Passion for approaching creative challenges with a curiosity and imagination; Strong interest in learning about creating content for campaigns, fundraising, and raising visibility for nonprofit brands and initiatives. Compensation : $25 per hour Projected duration : Summer 2025
