About the Position:
*This is a time limited NS-14 position* This position reports directly to the Communications Director and assists with all assigned communication efforts on behalf of the agency. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and producing the agency’s internal newsletter (The Lorax).
- Leading the development and publication of MDEQ’s Annual Report.
- Updating and maintaining content on the MDEQ website to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Regular news coverage reports.
- Supporting media relations by drafting press releases, coordinating interviews, and tracking media coverage.
- Assisting with the creation of digital content, including social media posts, graphics, videos, and podcasts.
- Ensuring all external messaging aligns with MDEQ’s branding and strategic goals.
- Supporting agency-wide public relations initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and event coordination.
What you'll need to be Successful:
A successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex environmental topics in an engaging and accessible way.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and media relations expertise.
- Proficiency in content management systems, graphic design software, and digital media production.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to teamwork, with strong attention to detail.
- Familiarity with environmental topics and regulatory agencies is a plus but not required.
