Overview
Manage Design Development •Facilitates and monitors digital design and functionality for NYSLRS' for NYSLRS' websites, blog and social media. •Reviews and directs the conceptualization and production of all graphic and digital design for publications, web, multimedia and video. •Manages and communicates with staff regarding new design projects, resources, priority, schedules, due dates, scope, objectives, target audience, design concept, features/specs, and final format. •Explores new ways to repurpose existing digital media content throughout the website, blog and social media and in marketing campaigns.
Project Management •Manages digital design production area, ensuring project goals and schedules are clearly defined and adhered to for each project; and as challenges arise, serves as liaison between bureau and stakeholders to review issues and present viable solutions. •Ensures post-production issues are resolved in a timely fashion. Communicates with stakeholders or vendors to resolve any outstanding project-related issues.
Quality Assurance •Establishes and directs style and branding compliance for NYSLRS digital design. •Ensures that digital communications are well organized, informative and visually appealing.
Bureau Liaison (Teams & Committees) •Works with management and stakeholders to determine when to use copy, video, images, and other media to best convey messages. •Collaborates with the NYSLRS Executive Management Team, Retirement Division management and other stakeholders (CIO/ITS, Drupal team, etc.) to identify and carry out website, social media and other marking initiatives.
Staffing & Supervision •Supervises two Public Information Specialist (Digital Content) SG-23 staff members. •Conducts performance evaluations, provides guidance regarding personnel issues and policies, acts as mentor and subject matter expert to subordinate staff, and reviews and authorizes staff training requests. •Oversees NYSLRS digital communication platform trainings, including content management tools, document sharing tools, and social media.
Minimum Qualifications Eight years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications.
An associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or a similar degree substitutes for two, four, or five years of experience.
Additional Comments Knowledge, skills, and abilities: •Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. •Experience developing strategies and concepts for digital media. •Superior technical digital design skills. •Detailed knowledge of web/multimedia/video production and management. •Experience managing digital publication workflow and functionality. •Supervisory experience. •Proficient in front end web development and user interface coding including JQuery, Java Script, XML, HTML, CSS, PHP a plus. •Experience developing concepts and interface architecture for web applications. •Exceptional interpersonal skills. •Excellent attention to detail. Telecommuting: The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agency's mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks.
