Overview
The Audio Visual Lighting Services Coordinator is responsible for supervising the Audio Visual Lighting Services (AVLS) area within University Centers. In addition to the job responsibilities outlined below, areas of ability and knowledge include: excellent interpersonal communication skills, understanding of acoustics and sound reinforcement theory, understanding both the language and technical specifications included in contract riders, liability and risk management as it pertains to production work, broad overview of all currently available technology in the areas of sound, light, and AV equipment, ability to lift/move heavy equipment, and the ability to work in a lift at heights up to 30’. Some evening, weekend, and occasional holiday hours are required for this position. Limited evening and weekend phone calls for technical assistance can also be expected. This position reports to the Associate Director for Event and Facility Operations, University Centers.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree -OR- a combination of job-related education plus two (2) or more years of related experience.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience with sound, lighting, and AV systems.
- Supervisory experience.
- History of detail-oriented customer service.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a higher education setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse clientele including students, staff, faculty, and community members.
- Experience with Extron/Crestron equipment.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficient in Word & Excel.
- Experience working with event scheduling software programs (including EMS or Mazevo).
- Experience leading student staff members.
- Ability to develop student employee training programs.
- Understanding of the importance of collaboration within the unit and the university.
