Charlotte Valley Central School District is seeking qualified individuals for the following position: Library Media Specialist. This is a full-time position. Our newly constructed library is scheduled to open on 9/1/25. The selected candidate will begin on 9/2/25 and will have the opportunity to integrate this new space into the educational programs within the district.

Candidates shall possess or be on track for a NYS teaching certification as a Library Media Specialist. Starting salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $49,455 to $68,226, plus contractual benefits.

Role Overview

The Library Media Specialist supports student learning by managing the school library and integrating information literacy into the curriculum. Responsibilities include curating a diverse collection of print and digital resources, teaching research and media skills, and promoting a love of reading.

Responsibilities

1. Managing library circulation.
2. Maintaining up-to-date technology.
3. Creating a welcoming, inclusive space that fosters inquiry and creativity.
4. Guiding students in digital citizenship, ethical information use, and research strategies.
5. Collaborating with teachers to develop instructional materials and support classroom learning through resource integration.

Qualifications

• Possession or progress towards NYS teaching certification as a Library Media Specialist.
