Full-Time 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)

Job Summary:
The Dedication Authorization Specialist is responsible for managing the prior authorization process according to Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital policies and procedures. They serve as an integral part of the patient care team while acting as a liaison between patients, care givers and support staff to deliver outstanding service and optimize patient flow. This position requires utilizing reasoning skills to identify needed information to obtain prior authorizations, referrals and admission/discharge notifications.
Here's what you'll do when you join us:
Initiate and process prior authorizations as required by payers while maintaining confidentiality and privacy
Initiate and obtain authorization and medical necessity for rehab services, homecare services, and pharmacy requests
Obtain pre-certifications for all inpatient and outpatient surgeries for physicians
Obtain information and prior authorizations for workers compensation cases
Complete requirements for the provision of initial care and required insurance referrals for specialty care
Stay up-to-date on insurance requirements and be able to perform duties in an accurate and timely manner
Have a knowledge of release of information protocols
Keep work up to date on assigned work ques and provide clinical information to insurance companies for prior authorizations
Communicate effectively and respectfully towards patients and fellow Grand Itasca staff members
Utilize great computer skills to complete assigned work
If you have these qualifications, we'd love to chat:
2-3 years' experience in financial counseling or patient registration, or have a Healthcare related associates degree required
Knowledge of insurance billing, collections and plan types
Customer service experience in a healthcare organization
Additional courses/experience in insurance billing, accounting and/or business administration preferred
Maintain reliable and consistent attendance
Ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca's policies, vision, mission and values
