Overview:
The Director of Field Visual Merchandising is responsible for driving consistent execution of elevated merchandising strategies and programs across House of Sport doors with a 4 - wall view, Athletic Apparel, Footwear and Hardlines that reflect the brand's visual strategy to create a differentiated customer experience that drives sales, margin and turn.
The role will drive consistency of messaging and execution through the hiring, development, training and mentoring of a geographically based teams of Senior Managers and Dedicated Field Visual Merchandisers. Overall team success will be based on the implementation of House of Sport merchandise objectives through elevated in-store visual merchandising, storytelling, product placement, flexing of space, gameplan execution, teaching and coaching of all managers and leads on merchandising elevation and fundamentals. The Director, Field Visual Merchandising House of Sport will drive cross-functional engagement and partnerships to ensure a 360 - degree approach to all merchandising initiatives. working across the following Field and CSC constituents to ensure success: RVPS, DM, Executive Directors, Common Purpose Managers, Store Managers, Visual Merchandising, Operations, Loss Prevention, Construction, Merchants, PAR.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Drives the understanding that Visual Merchandising is a key contributor to sales, margin and turn by maximizing the impact of gameplans, productivity of product flow, identifying and partnering on solves for space issues, seasonal movement of product and brand standards to ensure elevated cohesive merchandising presentation across all House of Sport stores. Evaluates and understands KPI trends to make commercial decisions and recommendations based on sound financial judgment.
Develops and drives excellence of product merchandising through curation and storytelling along with decision-making across the HO team that results in elevated merchandising across all brands and solutions to store specific visual merchandising challenges. This includes the development, sustainment and facilitation of merchandising training curriculums with training modules to support House of Sport.
Developing Talent and Teammate Engagement
Build effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals. Manage execution responsibilities and workload of direct/indirect reports to achieve functional deliverables on time and with quality. Provide direct reports with timely and regular feedback to support teammate development/ growth in role. Develop talent on your team to meet both their career goals and the organization's goals Establish strategic staffing and succession plans; successfully deliver on proposed staffing objectives. Drive the talent selection process in alignment with the company's talent philosophy for open direct/indirect reporting positions; Ensure all direct reports are appropriately trained and on-boarded. Drive engagement by creating a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives; focus on voice of teammate data (e.g., Engagement & Pulse results), partnering with organization leadership to drive necessary changes. Partners on major gameplan sets with the CSC visual team to understand company merchandising strategies, adjacency relevance, gameplan tactics and to act as the "voice of the HOS" during set development through to execution.
Responsible for program alignment, coordination and allocation of resources of external brand partner's (eg. NIKE, UA, ADIDAS, TNF, COLUMBIA) visual support function to drive labor savings and visual execution.
Ensures consistency of communication and participation in CSC/HOS planning meetings and RVP/ED conference calls/ webinars to drive planning, understanding and execution of upcoming gameplan, Seasonal Fashion Show, Co-Lab sets, company initiatives and shop roll-outs ensuring adoption of new initiatives and commitment to execution and compliance across House of Sport and teammates.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Visual Merchandising, Retail Management, or related field. 8+ years of experience in visual merchandising, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing geographically dispersed teams. Proven ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and influence stakeholders at all levels. Excellent communication skills and the ability to present and advocate for visual merchandising strategies. Ability to analyze sales trends and KPIs to make data-driven decisions. Experience with major brand partners (e.g., NIKE, UA, ADIDAS) and managing external vendor relationships. Ability to travel to various House of Sport locations. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
The Director, Field Visual Merchandising - House of Sport will play a key role in elevating the customer experience through strategic, impactful visual merchandising. This individual will shape the overall in-store experience, driving both business results and brand consistency across all locations.
