Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to create detailed 3D design layouts of complex parts and assemblies. You will prepare manufacturing documentation, support the creation of a standard library of parts, and maintain existing documentation. You will also analyze designs and determine opportunities for improvement while working closely with engineers in a professional team environment.
Responsibilities
Create detailed 3D design layouts of complex parts and assemblies, including fits, finishes, tolerances, and materials selection as requested by the project engineer.
Prepare simple design layouts of parts and assemblies, including fits and tolerances as requested by the project engineer or higher-level designers.
Prepare detailed manufacturing documentation of parts and assemblies in accordance with all company and industry standards, including thorough tolerance stack-ups to prove out design intent for fit and function.
Support the creation of a standard library of parts and features for re-use to support the department’s needs.
Maintain existing documentation through the preparation and incorporation of ECNs and AECNs.
Interpret industry design and drafting standards, military specifications, and company internal procedures effectively.
Participate in selected PDR and CDR reviews to help present design parameters.
Perform basic trigonometry and solid geometry calculations.
Detail checking of assemblies and drawings to company standards, including redraws.
Apply practical knowledge of Geometric Tolerances (GTOL).
Prepare fully annotated drawings of parts and assemblies from 3D Assembly models.
Utilize existing hardware for new designs/redesigns, including detailed research using the business system and custom software.
Manage projects from concept through production in an integrated product development team environment.
Analyze designs and determine opportunities for design improvements.
Work with engineers to develop and evaluate the feasibility of designs.
Analyze and apply tolerances on parts to satisfy design needs while accommodating manufacturing and inspection requirements.
Create as-built drawing packages efficiently.
Perform basic engineering calculations, tolerance stack-ups, and determine proper fits of moving and stationary parts.
Essential Skills
Mechanical design experience
Proficiency with PTC Creo and Windchill
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles
Experience in material properties, fits and finishes, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
Knowledge of separating operations such as turning, milling, drilling, boring, and tapping metallic and polymer materials
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Highly computer literate with MS Office/PC expertise
4-7 years of experience as an electro-mechanical designer
Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, or related field
Must be a US Citizen
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of fluid components, sealing element designs, bearings, and other mechanical elements
Experience with electro-mechanical packaging, PCB design, and harness design
GD&T certification preferred

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
