Temporary, part-time faculty positions offer the opportunity to assist a diverse group of students in achieving their educational goals. As one of the largest community college districts in southern California, we offer a wide range of opportunities in transfer, general education, career, and technical education programs. These part-time positions are on an as-needed basis, and applicants should live within commuting distance to Orange County.

Performance Responsibilities

1. Teach classes in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
2. Prepare and provide students with course outlines, materials, and lectures that support learning objectives set forth in the course syllabus.
3. Help develop and measure learning outcomes as identified by the department, when requested.
4. Assess student performance and maintain grade records.
5. Report assessment data on student learning outcomes, administrative unit outcomes, and/or student services outcomes.
6. Utilize the results of student learning outcomes assessment to improve teaching and learning.
7. Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
8. Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
9. Follow the college and district regulations, policies, and procedures.
10. Complete all reporting deadlines and required documents in a timely manner.
11. Use current technology and learning materials that support engagement and understanding.
12. Establish and maintain regular contact with students, especially for distance education courses.
13. Teach classes during scheduled times and at assigned locations.
14. Meet workload obligations and maintain accurate records.
15. Participate in curriculum review and program development as needed.
16. Assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online, and off-campus classes.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Must meet one of the following qualifications:
   1. Master’s in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication, or organizational communication.
   2. Bachelor’s in any of the above and Master’s in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English.
   3. A combination of education and experience equivalent to (a) or (b). Applicants must thoroughly answer all equivalency questions and provide all required materials.
