Description
Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite applications for one non-tenure-track Special Assistant Professor position in the Department of Writing Studies and Rhetoric at Hofstra University beginning in the Fall 2025 semester. The Department of Writing Studies and Rhetoric welcomes applications from individuals with PhDs in Writing Studies, Rhetoric and Composition, or closely related sub-fields who are interested in teaching first-year writing and professional writing courses. ABD candidates will also be considered.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teach core courses in first-year writing and professional writing courses, as needed.
- Participate in and/or lead faculty development workshops, in line with disciplinary expertise.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees required.
- Doctoral-level coursework completed and dissertation prospectus approved by relevant doctoral committee (All But Dissertation or ABD )
- Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in an educational environment.
- Doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, or a closely related sub-field preferred.
- Doctorate preferred.
