JOB SUMMARY:
The Graphic Design Intern will primarily support the National Community Relations and Development (NCRD) Department with graphic design and graphic design related work.
Assists with layouts and designs as directed by the Art Director. Provides graphic arts support for NCRD and other sections as requested and approved by Art Director; provides resources for website as required; supports multi-media presentations as needed.
Supports the Art Director and the Graphic Designer in the creation of graphic design artwork in designing and editing graphics and art layouts for requested projects in the NCRD department. Duties may include implementing text and photos into existing layout templates, lay-out of brochures, programs, one-page handouts, newsletters, signage, annual reports, and other printed materials.
Fulfills a supportive role with digital assets such as social media and web graphics, web pages, e-newsletters, and other digital files. Supports the creation of digital presentation materials, including graphic design elements and deck slides for webinars, meetings and presentations.
Assists in the maintenance of digital assets and resources on the national digital asset management tool including file uploading, file organization and file renaming, creation and/or editing of digital and video templates.
May support the Multimedia and Digital Communications Developer with creating static or animated graphics for use in produced video materials.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Preferred applicants should be enrolled in a Graphic Design, or similar program, and eligible for college credit. Recent graduates are also eligible.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Abilities in animation or 3D software a plus.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of graphic arts production.
Knowledge of desktop publishing techniques and the principles and practices of layout and design.
Knowledge of color theory and photography reconstruction.
Knowledge of basic computer graphics design software for use in layout and printing.
Knowledge of general office practices and principles.
Ability to create reproducible artwork from abstract concepts.
Ability to plan and prioritize work in order to ensure compliance with established deadlines.
Ability to work in a team environment to contribute to the goals of the department.
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to come for a minimum of
2 days
in person to the office (including Wednesdays).
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to operate office and desktop publishing equipment.
