About the opportunity
Dayforce is transforming from a legacy approach to "enterprise software" to a human-centered practice, recognizing that even HR and workforce management tools should look and work like consumer software. Dayforce has leadership throughout product development that are hungry for the kinds of direction-informing insights that only good research can bring.
This is a remarkable opportunity for a motivated individual to generate a deep understanding of the people that use our products to guide product strategy and design, guide non-researchers to conduct light research, and evangelize user research in their interactions with the cross-functional team. There are also many opportunities to contribute to the development of a research practice that is still establishing foundational practices and operations.
What you'll get to do
- Lead a research-informed transformation for technically complex legacy software.
- Scope and define research objectives that are aligned with product and business goals.
- Create project plans and artifacts that describe design research efforts, timelines, and outcomes.
- Conduct evaluative and generative UX research to inform, lead, and support the creation of useful, usable, and desirable digital products across web and mobile.
- Conduct in-depth research programs (such as field studies and mixed methods) that lead to deeper and farther-reaching findings, insights, and new opportunities.
- Create research deliverables that communicate insights and opportunities in consumable ways and support the cross-functional team.
- Act as a consultant and coach to help non-researchers conduct light research using appropriate methods and facilitation techniques.
- Enable product managers, designers, engineers, and others to learn and apply research skills.
- Look for opportunities to combine research efforts and find ways for the value of research to go farther.
- Develop close relationships with cross-functional partners.
- Contribute to practice building and research operations initiatives to help scale design and research.
Skills and Experience we value
- Demonstrated experience practicing complex UX research at scale, using methods such as diary studies, field research, remote research, moderated and unmoderated usability testing, and surveys.
- Passionate advocate of putting our users (who aren't necessarily the same as our paying customers) at the heart of the work.
- Ability to think and innovate at the intersection of the user, business value, technological feasibility, while considering longer-term and broader human and ethical impacts.
- Success at bringing a range of people into the research process, including cross-functional partners (product managers, designers, developers, marketers), successfully engaging stakeholders and executives with findings and insights.
- Someone with stories that connects their research work to shipped product and services that made a positive impact.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, helping drive change through compelling stories drawn from research.
- Orderly and organized, able to manage and make sense of inbound requests, keeping track of numerous research efforts at various stages in their process.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and ability to create clarity to keep moving forward.
- Eager mentor and capable educator, driven to spread methodological understanding throughout the broader team.
- Expertise and experience in research and design for accessibility.
- Experience contributing to an insights repository, creating personas, and/or executing quantitative research is a plus.
