HDR Architecture is searching a talented Design Intern to work in our Architecture studio in our Arlington, Virginia office this summer. This internship will provide a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, working alongside experienced Architects and Designers on a range of exciting projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for architecture, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to contribute to design processes, drafting, and research. This internship is designed for students pursuing a degree in architecture, offering valuable exposure to the practical aspects of the profession while fostering professional growth and development.
In the role of Design Intern we'll count on you to:
- Perform assignments under the direct supervision of an Architect, Project Manager, or other professionals
- Participate in our collaborative architectural design process, and develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics used to communicate concepts to client or for agency approval
- Follow through on design development drawings and models, and collaborate with production staff for technical details and completion of construction drawings
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer 2 years completed towards an architecture degree. This internship is not for recent graduates.
- Demonstrated knowledge of software packages including Adobe Suite, Rhino, and Revit.
- Demonstrated leadership role in school and/or your community.
- Strong organizational skills, as well as verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
- Local candidate preferred.
