This position is at times a hybrid work schedule, with some remote work possible, but an expectation of being present in our respective offices for team meetings and collaboration, as necessary and appropriate. While a typical M-F, 9-5 pm hours will be the norm, this job will require flexibility to accommodate evening and weekend work to engage with donors.

Job Summary
Utah Public Media at the University of Utah, which includes KUER, KUUB, and PBS Utah, seeks a creative, energetic, and entrepreneurial Director of Major Gifts committed to the mission of public broadcasting who will expand a major giving program and work in concert with the highly successful mid-level giving clubs (Circle of Friends for KUER and Broadcaster’s Club for PBS Utah) for both radio and television stations. This role will collaborate with the membership, business sponsorship, grants and foundations teams, and the programming staff for KUER, KUUB, and PBS Utah, which will be critical to the success of the major giving program.
The Director of Major Gifts will report jointly to the Director of Development for Utah Public Media and University Advancement. They will have access to the considerable resources provided by University Advancement, including prospect management and research services, data analytics, training and professional development, principal, major, and legacy giving support, etc.
Responsibilities
As the Director of Major Gifts, you will build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors at the $25,000+ level.
This work will involve prospect identification and qualification, individual engagement, cultivation and solicitation, recognition and stewardship, and legacy-giving opportunities.
The Director of Major Gifts will spend significant time and effort personally engaging supporters through in-person meetings, calls, correspondence, events, acknowledgments, impact reports, and other cultivation and stewardship outreach to foster their connections and philanthropy to Utah Public Media.
The position is goal-oriented, with expectations to meet and exceed collaboratively set benchmarks and fundraising goals each fiscal year.
Works alongside and helps plan strategy with a team supporting mid-level and major-giving work across all stations.
Builds a solid individual major giving program ($25,000+) that includes prospect identification and qualification, individual engagement, cultivation and solicitation, recognition and stewardship, and legacy giving opportunities.
Develops case statements collaboratively with station leadership and peers on broadcasting initiatives for use in proposals, impact reports, and other written and verbal donor communications.
Tracks donor activities and interactions, working closely with Advancement staff to manage qualification, cultivation, solicitation, documentation, and stewardship of major gift donors.
Ensures gifts are correctly deposited and acknowledged.
Works with Utah Public Media and Advancement leadership to monitor progress in fundraiser activity and performance metrics, prospect management, and fundraising results.
Assist with station fund drives as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); eight years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communications skills required.
Masters degree in Business Administration, or related area preferred.
Preferences
Experience with major and mid-level gift solicitations; grant, proposal, and impact report writing
Fundraising experience, including creating and executing a major gift fundraising plan
An understanding of public broadcasting fundraising practices
Two years of budgeting and supervisory experience
Personnel management is preferred.
