Civil Design Technician

Position Summary:
The Civil Designer is an intermediate to expert-level role primarily responsible for creating two and three-dimensional (2D-3D) models for transportation projects. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of construction documents for various transportation infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, and roundabouts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Collaboration: Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Civil Designers, and Civil Technicians to develop precise design models for incorporation into construction documents.
Technical Expertise: Demonstrate intermediate to advanced technical knowledge of road, highway, and storm sewer projects.
Drawing Creation: Utilize experience and guidance from others to produce accurate construction drawings, including layout, geometry, utility, grading, profiles, cross sections, summary tables, and other related plans in accordance with company, client, or regulatory standards, methods, and procedures.
AutoCAD Civil 3D Proficiency: Apply intermediate to advanced knowledge of various AutoCAD Civil 3D modules (Surfaces, Parcels, Grading, Alignments, Profiles, Corridors, Sections, and Pipe) to create 3D models for construction drawings.
Transportation Focus: Draft and design transportation projects such as roads, highways, roundabouts, and other related infrastructure.
Quality Control: Perform document QC/QA, field investigations, basic computations for cost estimates/quantity takeoffs, and other non-technical duties as needed.
Support: Assist Civil Technicians in assembling construction drawing plan sets.
Mentorship: Mentor and train Civil Technician job classifications as required.
Timely Completion: Ensure assignments are completed on time and within budget.
Education and Experience
Degree/Experience: Associate degree in Civil Engineering Drafting/Technology (or a similar program) or 5+ years of experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D, specifically with transportation drafting.
Competency: Demonstrated competency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel).
Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
