A Day in the Life of a Planner II
As a Planner II, you will contribute to projects, assist with analysis, work directly with our clients, represent Toole Design in project and stakeholder meetings, and reinforce our reputation as trusted experts. You'll work with other planners, landscape architects, urban designers, and engineers to deliver a variety of exciting projects focused on making places and travel experiences better for everyone, including local, regional, and state-wide active transportation plans, Vision Zero plans, corridor studies, wayfinding plans, and downtown plans.

We are targeting a salary range of $62,000 to $73,000 for this position.
Qualifications of a Planner II:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in urban planning, landscape architecture, urban design, engineering, public health, or a related field
- 2+ years or experience related to multimodal transportation, transportation safety, and public engagement
- Experience independently managing projects or tasks while working as part of a larger, multidisciplinary team and on multi-phased projects
- Strong cultural competency with people from racial backgrounds different from your own
- Strong writing skills and experience working as a support and/or lead writer for planning documents
- Proficiency using Excel for data and demographic analysis
- Experience in graphic production in Adobe Creative Suite, including data visualization, graphic design, and document layout
- Proficiency developing polished work products that present information visually. This could include infographics and data visualization, mapping experience with ArcGIS or QGIS
- Experience conducting public outreach and engagement
It would be a plus if you have any of the following:
- Prior planning experience at a consulting firm
- Experience with surveys, tabling, focus groups, fieldwork, and other data collection methods
- Fluency in Spanish, Somali, Arabic or other languages
- Experience (academic, professional, or in advocacy) with bicycle and pedestrian projects

Work Schedule for a Planner II
This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home 2 days per week. Our Columbus office of Toole Design opened in 2018 and is in downtown Columbus on East Broad Street, across from the Capitol. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.
