MECHANICAL DESIGNER / ESTIMATOR (SOLIDWORKS)
Location: Burr Ridge, IL
Job type: Contract to Hire
Our client, a national metrology solutions provider, is hiring a Mechanical Designer/Estimator for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Burr Ridge, IL.
The Mechanical Designer/Estimator will be a key position for the organization to assist in speeding up the client delivery process.

Our client, a national metrology solutions provider, is hiring a Mechanical Designer/Estimator for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Burr Ridge, IL.
The Mechanical Designer/Estimator will be a key position for the organization to assist in speeding up the client delivery process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leading the design and release of mechanical projects
- Creating, modifying, and updating all mechanical drawings and BOM's
- Analyzing existing designs and providing recommendations for improvements
- Participating in brainstorming and design reviews
- Quoting, estimating, pricing materials, placing orders with vendors
- Sourcing materials and working with vendors
- Delivering projects on time and within budget
- Working with shop personnel in machining products correctly
- Assisting in the checking of drawings and analyzing tolerance stack-ups
- Assisting in developing engineering and drafting standards
- Issuing and completing ECO's
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Degree is not required)
- 5- 10 years of design experience.
- Solidworks Experience is required
- Experience Designing tooling, press fits, and /or slip fits
- Driven and ambitious personality with attention to detail
- A creative, innovative, and forward-thinking approach to engineering design
- Excellent problem-solving skills in a team-oriented environment
- Experience with quoting and estimating is preferred
