Akima Infrastructure Services, LLC (AIS), is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the project management and business services fields as part of our staff augmentation team supporting the Department of Energy (DOE) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). AIS has an established history of contributing to the success of our customer’s mission.
Successful candidates will be employees of AIS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of ORNL in Oak Ridge, TN. Though employed by AIS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratory. Pay, benefits, human resources, and employment management functions are provided by AIS.
Qualified applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, and able to meet pre-employment requirements including physicals, drug screens, and background investigations to satisfy DOE clearance requirements.
Responsibilities
- The artist will produce timely designs to illustrate and illuminate communication materials for distribution to the US Department of Energy (DOE) and targeted audiences. Under minimal supervision, develop thought-provoking designs using modern tools and techniques.
- Work proficiently in software programs including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Collaborate with leadership and internal customers to produce visually effective communication tools for stakeholders including co-workers, industry, academia, government sponsors, and the public.
- Participate in planning and production of deliverables such as reports, brochures, digital signage, posters, infographics, presentations, and collateral for high-profile visits.
- Prioritize requests, coordinate workflow, and facilitate production with vendors to meet deadlines and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with environment, safety, health, and quality standards. Follow review processes to ensure high-quality products.
- Engage with team members and contribute to the overall mission.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in art, graphic design, or related field with 2-4 years of experience.
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to follow complex instructions, strong organizational skills, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, work independently and in team settings, and develop solutions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficient in multi-page layout and design.
- Experience in animation and/or 2D/3D modeling.
