OVERVIEW:
At HBD, the Designer is expected to display professionalism in creatively advising clients making selections for their home during the design phase. They are to solve, anticipate, and prevent problems while working with a sense of urgency. Reading and understanding plans, elevations, and specifications is vital. The ability to have a flexible schedule to attend training sessions and company-wide meetings. Proactive communication with other team members and management related to design trends, client feedback, as well as product and subcontractor issues. Needs to demonstrate the ability to follow new home selection processes while managing day-to-day tasks to effectively complete the job on time and within budget. Embracing the HBD culture, dynamic team environment, and most importantly, processes, programs, communities, and the HBD standard.
DESIGN SHOWROOM/OFFICE LOCATION:
Wendell Falls - Wendell, NC
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow the Design Phase process for all homes as documented in the Buyers Acknowledgement, including developing and visualizing creative design concepts that align with the market or clients' preferences and functional requirements
- Make selections for speculative houses that embody the integrity of Homes by Dickerson design and brand
- Communicate with clients, vendors, suppliers, and the project team as necessary to convey useful information
- Generate, price, manage, and execute client change order requests
- Prioritize a quality client experience
- Engage with the sales process, as needed
- Create, manage, and update specification documents for projects in assigned communities as necessary throughout the project schedule
- Collaborate with neighborhood plan development team for plan portfolio and speculative homes, as needed
- Perform periodic site visits to ensure accurate and quality implementation of design selections
- Schedule Visual Properties Tours, as needed
- Submit necessary design materials for community ARB/DRC
- Communicate necessary changes to ARB/DRC, client, and project team
- Maintain and update neighborhood paint maps of exterior colors
- Demonstrate knowledge of various components of HBD's high-performance building standards.
- Maintain the showroom: Keep showroom clean, organized, supplies stocked, dispose of, and install new samples as programs change
- Be aware and knowledgeable of all showroom products, performance, and general maintenance
- Review and provide feedback on purchasing program creation and development
- Possess a comprehensive general knowledge of new home design, construction, and productions (cabinets, tile, lighting, etc.)
- Confidently interact with a wide variety of personality types
- Separate your taste/style/preferences from a client's and help them successfully design a home to suit their personal aesthetic
- Basic estimating including minor takeoffs and calculations
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to persevere in accomplishing tasks and objectives with a sense of urgency about getting results.
- Ability to adapt to changes in situation or direction in order to meet stated goals.
- Ability to cooperate to build consensus and assist other to achieve team goals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Emphasis on Excel).
- Knowledge of CAD Encouraged.
- B.S. in Interior Design from an Accredited College/University.
- 3-5 years of interior design experience
- Or combination of relevant education/experience
