POSITION SUMMARY: Homes by Dickerson is looking for a detail-oriented Architectural Designer to support the architectural design team in producing precise, high-quality construction documents along with assisting in the development of a new 3D modeling/drafting/BIM system. This role requires a meticulous professional who takes pride in accuracy, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to technical excellence. The Architectural Designer will work closely with team members to translate conceptual plans into actionable technical drawings that meet both company standards and regulatory requirements. This position demands proficiency in CAD software, an enthusiasm for learning new 3D software, strong organizational skills, and an ability to adapt designs based on site conditions and project specifications.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Translate plan and elevation design concept sketches into precise, detailed technical drawings using Autodesk AutoCAD software, including building dimensions, elevations, sections, materials, and construction details.
- Learn new 3D modeling software through tutorial videos and online research
- Help establish initial 3D sample project to develop a working template for future project use
- Meet with the architectural team to establish 3D modeling standards and processes
- Produce working design renderings of interior and exterior spaces for internal team and client review
- Work with estimating and interior design teams to update construction drawings throughout pre-construction phase
- Assemble and organize lot-specific drawing sets for project clarity and accuracy.
- Apply design improvements and value-engineering principles to plans, taking structural requirements into account.
- Incorporate field verifications and resolve field-related issues within the base plan libraries.
- Collaborate with the purchasing team members to refine and improve takeoff procedures and processes.
- Incorporate field verifications/field problem resolutions into plan design and evolution.
- Work with team to ensure construction details/sections/materials are defined and executed properly.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Architecture is desired but not required.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD/Chief Architect or other design software.
- Proficiency in digital redlines or sketching is desired.
- Familiarity with construction best practices, applicable building codes, zoning ordinances, various building types, and other legal restrictions.
