The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s largest small business advocacy organization, is looking to hire a Content Writer & Coordinator to join its Public Affairs team.
Responsibilities
The Content Writer & Coordinator writes, edits, and publishes high volumes of internal and external content that powers NFIB’s print, digital, email, and social media marketing and communication materials in alignment with strategic NFIB initiatives. This position serves as a conduit to other NFIB departments and writes and edits compelling content that drives member engagement. Collaborates with the digital and communications teams to adapt/create content that is search-friendly and channel appropriate. Collaborates with the Senior Content Manager and other members of the content team to develop and execute content strategy and acts as a resource, liaison, and consultant to other departments on content creation and publication. Strong editing and writing skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects at once, and strong collaboration skills are a must. Content Writer & Coordinator will be an organized self-starter with the ability to manage time and projects, communicate, and manage up and around. Must use sound judgment and discernment. Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Adhere to Company and Department policies and procedures; work outcomes must meet and/or exceed productivity and quality standards. Must be able to work as part of a cooperative team environment and independent of direct supervision. Responsibilities include reinforcing key organizational messages to foster employee understanding of NFIB mission and vision; exemplifies core values. Performs other projects as needed. Salary Range for position - $60,000-70,000 Position is hybrid – must work in the DC office.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, marketing, or a related field. One or two years of writing and editing experience, or comparable internship and college work experience. Writer with knowledge of the following: digital and print editorial content; copywriting and editing using AP Style; developing editorial calendars; integrated social media approaches; publishing using content management systems. Familiarity with keyword placement and SEO a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint). Experience with WordPress, Canva, Asana, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred but not required. Excellent time and project management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Self-starter who can work independently or support others when necessary. Highly organized with the ability to plan effectively, handle multiple, shifting priorities under tight deadlines, collaborate with multiple stakeholders, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on public affairs advocacy and association membership.
