Lotus Boise Corp is searching for a versatile hire to take on a dual role—serving as both our Assistant Program Director (APD) and Morning Show Host. This position is perfect for an industry professional who has both strong leadership capabilities behind the scenes and a magnetic presence behind the mic.
You’ll play a key role in shaping our station’s sound, keeping our programming fresh, and engaging our listeners in the morning with a compelling, entertaining, and high-energy show.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and execute strategic programming initiatives.
- Oversee music scheduling, content creation, and overall station sound to maximize listener engagement.
- Coordinate the scheduling of on-air talent, including programming, breaks, and promotional spots.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and audience preferences to contribute to the development of innovative programming concepts.
- Analyze ratings and audience feedback to enhance show quality and listener experience.
- Assist in coaching and mentoring on-air talent to ensure top-tier performance.
- Work closely with promotions and sales teams to integrate programming with station events and sponsorships.
- Ensure compliance with FCC and company regulations.
Morning On-Air DJ Responsibilities:
- Host an engaging, fast-paced morning show that energizes and entertains audiences.
- Select program content, in conjunction with producers and assistants, based on factors such as program specialties, audience tastes, or requests from the public.
- Deliver compelling content, music, news, and trending topics that resonate with our target demographic.
- Engage with listeners on-air, online, and via social media to build a loyal community.
- Conduct live interviews with guests, artists, and local influencers about their lives, work, and other topics of current interest, as well as discuss various topics live on air with viewers and listeners.
- Represent the station at promotional concerts and community events.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional broadcasting experience is preferred.
- Good vocal qualities and diction are required.
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in radio programming, production, or related roles is highly desirable.
- Strong passion for radio broadcasting and a deep understanding of different radio formats.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members, on-air talent, and external partners.
- Proficient in using broadcast software and equipment, such as automation systems, audio editing software, and soundboards.
- Knowledge of FCC regulations, music licensing, and copyright laws related to radio broadcasting.
- Creative mindset with the ability to generate fresh ideas and adapt to changing trends.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in the radio industry.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Office environment, some repetitive motion required. May require some travel to station events; valid driver’s license is required with a safe driving record.
